The meaning of the movie is that war changes people and that it is hell. It highlights this very well in the opening and the end. It wants you to dislike war but it also makes you like it.
Actors
I think that the actors did a really good job. They acted in a very believable and realistic way. They are really talented and make the characters come to life.
If I was the director what would I do
I would cut out the boring talking bit and add more of the journey between locations. I would make more of the main characters die before the end.

I would give the movie 4 stars.
